Hello, my name is Hui Zhou. It is my first year to pursue an education at St. Clair College in early childhood education. I have been associated with education since I was a student. When I was young, I was a good helper for teachers and often assisted teachers in teaching. I thrived in the teaching assistant field. People around me said I had the talent to be a teacher. But at the time, I didn’t think much of it. After graduating from university, I have worked in the bank for six years. My main job contents are handling corporate accounts and foreign exchange operations. At work, I gained professional communication skills, efficient work habits, time management and multi-tasking.

Later when I saw my daughter growing up, I found myself reflecting on my earlier experiences assisting teachers. This reignited a passion for early childhood education within me. I have a desire to understand how children develop and teach them how to be a good human being.

In my country, transitioning to a completely new career field is a significant challenge, with limited opportunities and intense competition. This reality prompted me to explore alternative paths. Leaving my comfort zone is not an easy decision, but I want to try what interests me. That is why I am here: to start afresh and dedicate myself to learning, so I can pursue a meaningful career in education and make a difference in children’s lives.
